On the National Historic Register, Hyde Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Tampa, dating back to the 1880s when the first home was built on Morrison Avenue. Grand historic homes, many with wrap-around porches and historically appropriate restored bungalows line wide streets with sidewalks, majestic oaks and charming street signs. Hyde Park is centered around Hyde Park Village, a mix of national, regional and local businesses, restaurants and boutiques anchored in the center by a lovely park and fountain. Local favorite restaurants include The Wine Exchange, Irish 31 which hosts a running club on Wednesdays, and Timpano’s Chop House. West Elm is a recent addition to the Village shops.
Hyde Park also features beautiful Kate Jackson Park which boasts a splash park, playgrounds for varied ages, basketball courts and a building with meeting space. Hyde Park is bound by W. Horatio/Crosstown Expressway to Boulevard to the north, S. Boulevard/Horatio to Swann/S. Rome Avenue/Swann to Bayshore Boulevard to the East, Bayshore Boulevard/Howard to Rome/W. Swann/Rome to Boulevard to the south and the Crosstown expressway to the west.
